Your City has repeatedly achieved international accreditation for its Environmental Management System. This comprehensive system is designed to ensure future generations benefit from the efforts made now to create a healthier, biodiverse and sustainable environment in which we all live.
The character and ambience of our City is defined by much of the City's built heritage. In particular, long-term conservation of Adelaide's best concentration of early, mid and late Victorian residential development is a high priority. Our unique built heritage helps set us apart from other metropolitan areas, making our neighbourhoods highly desirable and much sought after places to live, work and visit.
Our City is known too, for its highly acclaimed Cultural Heritage Program, which celebrates more than 150 years of history as one of South Australia's most progressive and innovative municipal councils. To familiarise yourself with the City's history, you are invited to undertake a historic walk specifically designed to provide you with an overview of the people and places that have helped shaped our City's unique sense of place and identity.
Norwood Payneham & St Peters also has a reputation for its commitment to nurturing artists and public art. We are proud to be the preferred home to a number of visual and commercial artists, including the Adelaide Central School of Art in Norwood and Adelaide's film and multimedia hub located in Kent Town.
