
Rates Policy
The Council is required, pursuant to Section 171 of the Local Government Act 1999 to develop a Rating Policy for each financial year.
The Rating Policy establishes the Council's approach to the setting and collecting of rates from the community.
A summary of the policy is forwarded to each ratepayer in conjunction with the rate notice.
The Rates Policy sets out information relating to the following:
- The relationship between Council's strategic plans, its budget and rates structure
- Council's revenue raising powers
- Method used to value land
- Adoption of valuations
- Business Impact Statement
- Differential general rates
- Minimum rate
- Water Catchment levy (the Council's collection role)
- Pensioner and Self Funded Retiree concessions
- Other State Government Concessions
- Payment of rates
- Late payment of rates
- Sale of land for non-payment of rates
- Remission and postponement of rates
- Rebate of rates
- Rate Capping rebate
