Dunstone Grove/Linde Reserve Redevelopment

2 June 2010

Works have commenced in Dunstone Grove/Linde Reserve on the Council's Revitalising St Peters Project.

The first stage of the Project, which is jointly funded by the Council and the Federal Government through the Regional and Local Community Infrastructure Program, is the redevelopment of Dunstone Grove and Linde Reserve.

Key features of the Project include:

  • removal of the former Scout Hall and Perriam Centre buildings (this work has already been undertaken)
  • naturalisation of the creekline
  • redevelopment of pedestrian linkages through the park
  • additional landscaping
  • new play spaces
  • new public conveniences
  • the reconstruction of carparking areas
  • the creation of a community garden
  • stormwater harvesting and reuse
  • public art integration throughout the reserve; and
  • the renovations of cottages located at 64, 66 and 68 Nelson Street and also the St Peters Youth Centre.

The redevelopment incorporates sustainability initiatives such as stormwater harvesting for use on the reserve, biodiversity plantings and the installation of photovoltaic cells to offset the energy requirements for the reserve.

The Redevelopment works are expected to be substantially completed by July 2010.

For safety reasons, the Reserve is closed to prevent public access whilst the works are being undertaken. This also includes closure of the car parks, excluding the car parking spaces located on Cornish Street.

Use of the reserve as an off-leash dog exercise area is also restricted.  The nearest alternative off-leash areas are Otto Park (on the corner of Second Avenue and St Peters Street, St Peters) and Richards Park (on the corner of Magill Road and Osmond Terrace, Norwood).
