Business and Economic Development Committee
The Business and Economic Development Committee (BEDC) held its first formal meeting on 7 February 2007. Subsequently three Precinct Committees have also been established for the Norwood Parade Precinct Committee, the Glynde Corner Precinct Committee and the Magill Road Precinct Committee.
Membership of each of these committees includes local business and property owners as well as Elected Members of the Council.
Read more about these Committees under Retail Precincts.
Mayor Robert Bria chairs the Business & Economic Development Committee, which is also comprised of representatives from each of the major retail and commercial precincts in the City, representatives from specialised industries operating within the local area and six Elected Members (in addition to the Mayor).
The business representatives on the BEDC Committee are:
- Glynde Corner - Mr Tullio Tagliaferri (Tagara Builders)
- The Parade - Mr Alistair Tutte (Retail Planning Specialist)
- Home Based Businesses - Mr Tony Lawson (Tony Lawson Consulting)
- Glynde Light Industry - Mr Claude Cicchiello (La Casa del Formaggio)
- Professional Services - Mr Martin Burns (Liquid Property)
- Multimedia - Mr Mario Andreacchio (AMPCo Films)
- Magill Road - Ms Liddy Dolman (Ecolateral)
- Stepney Triangle - Ms Janelle Gaudet (Granite Kitchen Makeovers)
The Council also appointed Mr Theo Maras to the Committee because of his extensive experience in, and knowledge of, South Australia's retail industry.
In addition to Mayor Bria, the other Council representatives on the Committee are Councillors John Frogley, Lucy Marcuccitti, John Minney, Mike Stock, Barbara Erichsdotter and Paul Wormald. The representatives bring a wealth of business experience, skills and expertise to the Committee and will provide the Council with strategic advice regarding the economic potential of our City. They also bring invaluable local knowledge to the table, which will help give the Council a better understanding of the unique issues facing each precinct.
